KeyBank Foundation awards $1M grant for providing breast cancer education to medically underserved women

A $1 million grant from KeyBank Foundation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® will fund a training and outreach program potentially reaching more than 100,000 medically underserved women in selected communities that KeyBank serves. The grant, announced today by Susan G. Komen for the Cure and KeyCorp, is the Foundation's largest-ever grant at the national level and will be used to establish the Susan G. Komen Lay Health Advisors Training Program.

Researchers at Weill Cornell Medical College have shown that it is possible to immunize mammals to control fertility. They say their technique could possibly be used on other mammals -- including humans -- because fertility hormones and their receptors are species-non-specific and are similar in both females and males.

Post-sex blues in nearly 10% of women: Study

A new study suggests that many women do feel depressed after sex. The study involved more than 200 young Australian women who were questioned about their sex lives. At least one in three young women said they experienced post-coital blues at some point in their lives. Ten per cent said they frequently or almost always felt sad after making love. The study was published in the quarterly International Journal of Sexual Health.

Prematurity is the number one reason for newborn death in the United States today, yet in nearly half of the cases of premature birth, there is no identifiable cause.
