$100 million in grants for medical research announced

More than $100 million in grants was announced this Tuesday for an ambitious research project that will try to find what makes cancer so hard to beat. This project received $21.3 million from the National Health and Medical Research Council grants.

Study reports highest rate of exclusive breastfeeding in El Camino Women's Hospital

The Women's Hospital at El Camino Hospital had the highest rate of exclusive and partial breastfeeding by new mothers of any hospital in the state for 2009, according to a study recently released by the UC-Davis Human Lactation Center and the California WIC Association.

Combination therapy may reduce albuminuria in patients with type 2 diabetes: Study

Results from a Phase 2, 8-week dose-ranging study using low doses of atrasentan in patients with diabetic kidney disease were published this week in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. The published study results suggest that atrasentan, used in conjunction with renin-angiotensin system inhibitors, may reduce albuminuria (presence of protein in urine) for patients with type 2 diabetes.
