GE Healthcare today announced the first seven markets where Vizamyl (Flutemetamol F18 injection), a radioactive diagnostic agent approved by the FDA will be available. Covidien net sales increase 3% to $2.60 billion in second quarter fiscal 2014

Covidien plc today announced financial results for the second quarter of fiscal 2014. Second-quarter net sales of $2.60 billion increased 3% from the $2.53 billion in the second quarter a year ago. Operational sales growth was 4% in the second quarter, as foreign exchange rate movement lowered the quarterly sales growth rate by just over one percentage point.

Amedisys to pay $150 million to settle Medicare fraud case

Amedisys Inc., one of the nation's largest home health providers, will pay $150 million to settle claims that it exaggerated Medicare billings and had improper financial relations with referring physicians, the Department of Justice revealed. Meanwhile McClatchy is reporting that, based on an analysis of Medicare's list of banned providers, Miami is at the top for Medicare fraud.
