Aurora Dedicated Breast MRI System installed at Ruijin Hospital, China

Aurora Imaging Technology, Inc. today announced the installation of the Aurora® Dedicated Breast MRI System in China at the world-renowned Ruijin Hospital located in Shanghai, the teaching hospital for China's top-tiered Jiao Tong University Medical School. The installation marks the first Aurora System in China.

Ultrasound-guided diffuse optical tomography holds promise for ascertaining early-stage invasive breast cancer

By combining two relatively inexpensive technologies based on sound and light waves, researchers hope to lower the rate at which women undergo breast biopsies for suspicious lesions. Results of the study on ultrasound-guided optical tomography are published in the online edition and the August print issue of Radiology.

FDA Advisory Committee recommendation against flibanserin will not affect LibiGel program: BioSante

BioSante Pharmaceuticals, Inc. commented today that the recommendation on June 18, 2010 by the FDA Advisory Committee regarding the safety and efficacy of flibanserin (Boehringer-Ingelheim) will have no impact on its own ongoing development program or approval pathway for LibiGel (testosterone gel), for the treatment of hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD).

Al Amal Hospital in Qatar commences treatment with Varian's RapidArc radiotherapy

One of the leading cancer centers in the Middle East has become among the first in the region to introduce fast and efficient RapidArc® radiotherapy treatments from Varian Medical Systems. Al Amal Hospital in Doha, Qatar, has treated nine brain cancer, prostate cancer and head & neck cancer patients with RapidArc since commencing treatments in early May, and it now plans to roll out the technology for many more indications.

Independent DMC recommends continuation of BioSante's ongoing LibiGel CV and Breast Cancer Safety Study

BioSante Pharmaceuticals, Inc., today announced that the independent Data Monitoring Committee (DMC) of the ongoing LibiGel® Cardiovascular (CV) and Breast Cancer Safety Study unanimously recommended study continuation without modifications, after its third review of the study's unblinded safety data. The review was based on data from almost 1,500 women-years of exposure.
